You guys were amazingly sweet and supportive yesterday; I really appreciate all your comments, and bouncing around your blogs definitely gave me a lift. Didn't get much work done, though!

Here's one thing I did manage to finish. As I mentioned a few days ago, I'm hosting an About Me Challenge at Deco-Pages. We've been having a great time with this - if you haven't yet, stop in and check it out (my shameless plug for the day). Well, I really put myself in a trick with this month's challenge:

The topic:

What do you consider to be your very best qualities/characteristics? If you're like me, you're going to have to enlist some outside feedback for this; that's OK. I think we always focus on our faults, and I want this month's challenge to be very much the opposite. You can use pictures, if applicable. Actually, you can use pictures if they aren't applicable! I really want you to focus on those traits that make you the "best" you, if that makes sense.

I sat down yesterday to work on my layout for this, and damned if I didn't draw a big, fat blank. No surprise, really, when you consider the mood I've been in. I can give you a LONG list of my shortcomings in a matter of nanoseconds (took the nerd quiz yesterday!), but telling you about my good points would largely consist of the sound of crickets in the silence. And I imagine it's that way for most people, which is why I chose the topic in the first place. After pestering my family relentlessly, this is what I came up with:

And as I thought about this I realized that most of my aforementioned shortcomings spring directly from this, and that, as usual, I couldn't see the forest for the trees! So I'd like to challenge you guys to consider this topic. No layout required, just a bit of reflection. What's your best quality? Don't fall into the fault trap - when that nonsense springs into your mind, just take a step back and rethink it. Bet you'll find that you have a lot of positive qualities, traits that you've been conditioned to see as flaws. Stop it. Embrace your defining characteristic, and use your powers for good rather than evil!

MUSINGS

I joke about my OCD tendencies, but it really isn't always that funny. Right now, for example, I'm driving myself insane because I'm a compulsive organizer. And re-organizer. It's probably one of my favorite hobbies. I'm always looking at spaces, sizing things up, trying to figure out how to make everything functional and beautiful at the same time. I hate clutter. I hate junk. I like to be surrounded by things that serve their purpose in the most aesthetically pleasing way possible.

It wasn't that big a deal when I could do the reorganizing myself. Sure, my husband would be a little irritated when everything in the house occupied a different space each month. My boss would roll his eyes when he'd walk in the door and my entire desk would be torn apart for the third time in a week. Those were pretty minor annoyances in the grand scheme of things.

Now, I have to rely on others to create the environment that I see in my mind's eye. Talk about frustrating. I always end up in tears, feeling sorry for myself and completely enraged at the unfairness of my situation. I know there's a lesson here; I even vaguely know what that lesson is. I'm not supposed to do everything by myself. I'm not a force unto myself. But I HATE this. I spent a lifetime fighting to be independent, strong, capable. The more I struggle against the idea that everything has changed, the unhappier I become.

I think one of the ways God works in us is through our compulsions. Until I learn the lesson, I will be compelled to reorganize my surroundings. Actually, that's inaccurate. I know the lesson. But I haven't changed my attitude. Until I do, I will remain dissatisfied with my situation. That's what this entire cycle boils down to. Sounds simple, doesn't it? In these moments of perfect clarity, when it really clicks, I am close to God. I feel His presence; I hear Him speak; and I feel such joy.

We are to be the body of Christ. We are meant to be interdependent, to rely on each other, support each other, love each other.

And there it is.

Well, I was riding the DST Blog Train yesterday, and something caught my eye - this little badge in the sidebox of a blog I enjoy reading quite a bit. JUNE ALREADY?

One of the worst things about being a kid, for me anyway, was the incredibly slow passage of time. Christmas took two years to arrive, seemed like summer vacation would never start, and anything that I looked forward to never happened fast enough. Any time I would complain about how the days dragged on, my mother would caution me not to wish my life away. Wise woman.

So I blinked, and the month of May totally disappeared. And I can honestly say that one of the worst things about getting older is this weird time warp I'm living in. That and wrinkles.

WII FIT

I have a love/hate relationship with it. I got it last week and tried it out immediately. I was dismayed to discover that I can only do between five and six minutes at a time. Now I knew my balance and core strength needed work; that was the whole reason for buying the Wii Fit. I will say I think it's going to be a great tool for my rehab/recovery.

I finally completed a project yesterday. Pretty sure I'll be able to finish the rest today; I'm definitely working toward it. Now I'm cranky - I wanna go play on blogs but instead I gotta work. Oh well

SCRAPBOOK CLASSES, ANYONE?

Chances are, if you're reading this, you're already familiar with scrapbooking in one form or another. But, if you're a beginner and would like to shorten your learning curve a bit, you should take a look at some scrapbooking classes I just added to my store. In case you're wondering, still no creative spark. Had good intentions yesterday - picked up my computer and just knew I would be finishing up all my open projects. I then proceeded to download some songs, order some shoes, spend hours browsing online stores looking at junk I don't need, and mess around with my e-mail programs (why do I have more than 1? good question). Basically I spent all day trying to do anything but work. So now I gotta cram. Send some juice my way, guys - I could sure use it.

Never fails. End of the month already, got a ton of things due on the 31st, have even started working on a couple of them. But I look at them and think, "This sucks." You didn't think I was gonna pretty that up, did you? Nope, not today. I just can't cross the finish line with any of these projects. Someone do me a solid - blow up my computer, please?

OCD MUCH?

Anyone who spends more than 5 minutes with me pretty quickly figures out that I put the "A" in "Type-A." I'm anal, picky, persnickety, particular, and above all, obsessive. What's the point, you ask? Okay, maybe you didn't, but LUCKY YOU - I'm here to do that for you! Point is, when I get an idea in my head, and it takes root, I'm absolutely stuck until I do something about it. Which is why I haven't posted in over a week.

Late last Saturday I decide I want my own store. The desire had been there, just an amorphous, ephemeral thing, but it really developed into something with legs last weekend. The whole thing went something like this: "I want my own store. My web host provides free stuff; let me go see what's there. Oh, look, Zen Cart. Install. Now what?"

The "Now what" is that in order to get my store looking EXACTLY the way I want (and those of you living with me in OCD-land know there just ain't no other way it's gonna be!), I spent the better part of 2 days re-writing style sheets, installing them to the server, starting ALL OVER not once, not twice, but THREE times when everything crashed (I have no idea why, don't even ask!). Spent the next day or two working to get an SSL certificate and fine-tuning a few things. Spent some more time (not as much as I needed thanks to my new Wii Fit - more on that tomorrow!) uploading and organizing.

Do you know how long it took me to figure out what that acronym means? And how dumb I felt at the "A-Ha!" moment? Yeah, laugh it up. So that's my spoiler alert; the bulk of this post won't be scrapbook-related. I have to apologize, first of all - I had every intention of posting a new kit, a new paper pack, and the first download of a free kit that will take the remainder of the month to unveil. I've been sidetracked, hijacked, you name it.

You know about the bug - that, fortunately, has passed. My husband, however, has managed to derail my normally unshakeable focus with his rather sweet and COMPLETELY irritating habit of renting movies at ridiculous times. Usually not a big deal; there are few movies made today (current-era Hollywood) that require my full attention. I'm not that old, really (I'm really not!), but my taste in movies runs that way - I'm a Clark Gable, Cary Grant, Rock Hudson, John Wayne kinda gal. Imagine my surprise when he brings home not one but two movies that were just about the best I've seen in YEARS. Curious, aren't you? Here's the second spoiler alert - I am sick, twisted, demented and in general find the weirdest things absolutely hilarious. First movie - No Country for Old Men. We actually watched this one Saturday night, and I loved it so much I ordered the book from Amazon, got it Wednesday and read it last night - EVERY BIT as enjoyable as the movie! Second movie? Sweeney Todd. LOVE Johnny Depp!! Now, how much will it tell you about my sense of humor that I laughed like a LOON frequently during both of these movies? Not at the subject matter, of course. There's something about beautifully written dialogue that just does it for me. Lots of people will disagree - but different strokes, ya know?

I'm wrangling with my darling son. He turns 14 on Saturday (I REALLY AM GETTING OLD!), and we are both suffering from his growing pains. Ever watch Bill Cosby, Himself? I really thought it was the funniest thing when I was a kid; now, it's truly just a joke gone horribly, horribly wrong. OKAY, so I'm exaggerating - I'm a bit theatrical by nature - but BELIEVE ME when I say this kid really is pushing his luck!!! If he didn't look so much like his daddy. . .

Well, I managed to kill a little more time I can ill-afford to lose! Sorry, guys - sometimes I just gotta let it all go. I PROMISE I'm all business from here on out! If I don't post over the weekend, it's 'cause I'm working FEVERISHLY to get lotsa goodies ready to roll (and MAYBE celebrating a birthday by going to see Iron Man - the kid might be grounded between now and then, who knows?). BAD START TO THE WEEK

Well, I am WAY behind the power curve this week! Have been working, off and on, on a new kit and a new paper pack - unfortunately have spent the past 2 1/2 days wrangling with a nasty stomach bug. We'd planned to take the kids to see Iron Man on Mother's Day - sad to say THAT didn't happen. Oh well, next weekend!

My freebies won't make an appearance until Friday; then I hope to have a little something for every day from now through the end of the month, so be sure to check in with me!

I try to get my blog posts done early each day so that I can post that I've updated, then I can spend the rest of the day trying to be productive. I'm not sure what's happening to my head here lately, but I didn't post at all one day and on another forgot to hop on the blog train. Gotta get my stuff together, maybe get a little more organized so I don't forget anything!

I'm still working on the kit I had intended to release today. I'm struggling a little bit with it, the colors are unusual and not quite like anything I've done before. I hope to have it done later today, but I think realistically it'll probably be ready tomorrow. Once I'm finished with a preview, I'll post it and ask an opinion, so be prepared to tell me what you think.

Not digging the forecast today - tornado warnings in effect thru the a.m. here in Virginia. SOOO not a fan of the tornado!

Wow, I am DRAGGING this morning! I love spring, but the pollen is killing me this year. My computer keeps doing funky things - maybe it's allergic to pollen, too?

Okay, it's 1 a.m. here, and hubby just started watching a movie - apparently a scary one, as a hand just reached out of a pond and grabbed a girl by the face! This is what happens when he's allowed out unsupervised.
